Nuclear Fission Simulation Tool

DISCLAIMER: The current release of the game has performance issues in level 3. I am aware of this problem, and it will be solved as soon as I find time for it.

Nuclear Fission Simulation Tool (NFST) is a strategy action game in which you, as a soon-to-be nuclear power plant worker, get the chance to show off your skills by conducting and controlling a chain reaction of uran atoms in a nuclear reactor simulation. Will you get the job?

The game starts with a complex tutorial in which you follow the tasks of a robotic assistant, A-Tom, as he explains to you the game mechanics and the concept of nuclear fission. Then you can complete up to 3 levels with gradually increasing difficulty that are full of challenges and various solutions.

This game was in development for about 4 months as a winter term school project. It was created by me, Vojtěch Bohuš, on Game Art. The game was made in Unity with the help of other programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Paint.net, Adobe Audition, and REAPER.

The biggest inspiration for this project comes from Christopher Nolan's film Oppenheimer. What especially intrigued me were the sequences featuring various concepts from physics visualized by using mostly practical effects. I've been very fascinated by the way we portray and visualize those concepts to better understand them and explain them to others. That is why I tried to make an interpretation of my own.

It is worth noting that some of the aspects of nuclear fission portrayed in the game were left out or amended to better fit the game design purposes. The real-life concept was used as more of an inspiration, and the game focuses on general information about the phenomenon.

I would also like to mention that the entire soundtrack was created by me in REAPER using various Spitfire Audio LABS software instruments. The sound effects used in the game were downloaded from Pixabay and Freesound and were then edited using Adobe Audition.
